St. Theresa prayer

Last Sunday I went to IUCC again. Loved it, as usual. The sermon was challenging and academic, discussing the different camps of Paul and John and their divergent takes on the inclusiveness and exclusiveness of Christianity. At one point, the worship leader read this quote from St. Theresa which I thought was wonderful.

"May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you. "

Drama

There is drama in our household. I can't say much, as Mike will be mad if I reveal things he considers personal to him, but suffice it to say that it has to do with our baby, a blessing, family expectations, institutional policies, and private moral convictions. Don't yet know how this will all turn out...

What I'm Reading (and Watching)

So I still don't have time for much, but I've figured out how to hold a book and nurse at the same time. Thank goodness! At least I can read during these constant and interminable bouts of nursing.

Side note: I hate nursing.

Anyway, I picked up in a used bookstore a huge novel -about 1200 pages - by Susan Howatch called The Wheel of Fortune. What a blast! Like a huge English soap opera, or as one critic said, a British Gone With the Wind. I've been thoroughly entertained, even though most of the main characters are male :(

I'm still reading the memoir A Girl Named Zippy: Growing Up Small.... I love this author's story telling ability. Very readable and humorous. Makes me want to turn some of my life events into chapters like hers.

I will soon begin reading On Beauty by Zaide Smith for our book group. It's gotten some great reviews, so it should be fun.

And of course, I'm often referencing numerous baby books to help me figure out what's going on with baby.


Since i'm nursing or pumping all the time, TV (sadly) has recently become very important to me.

I just discovered The Office. Best comedy on air at the moment, in my opinion.

King of the Hill still cracks me up.

I was reasonably entertained by my mom's favorite show, the BBC's Rosemary and Thyme

I've been watching A LOT of Law and Order, probably because it's on about 6 hours a day. But also it's a little addicting.

Still waiting for the new season of 24 and Lost...

And Monk's a family favorite as well.
